⁸ Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. ⁹ Heal the sick in it and say to them, ^(A)‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ ¹⁰ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ^11 (B)‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that ^(C)the kingdom of God has come near.’ ¹² I tell you, ^(D)it will be more bearable on ^(E)that day for Sodom than for that town.

Woe to Unrepentant Cities

^13 (F)“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in ^(G)Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. ^14 (H)But it will be more bearable in the judgment for ^(I)Tyre and Sidon than for you. ¹⁵ And you, Capernaum, ^(J)will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to ^(K)Hades.

^16 (L)“The one who hears you hears me, and ^(M)the one who rejects you rejects me, and ^(N)the one who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

Heirs with Christ

¹² So then, brothers,^[a] we are debtors, ^(A)not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you ^(B)put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ¹⁴ For all who are ^(C)led by the Spirit of God are ^(D)sons^[b] of God. ¹⁵ For ^(E)you did not receive ^(F)the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of ^(G)adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ^(H)“Abba! Father!” ^16 (I)The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ¹⁷ and if children, then ^(J)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, ^(K)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
